We have a new project underway, and we are looking for a number (15-20) model/people to participate. We need that many, since we are planning long-range, and long-term, and we need to be able to have 3-6 people available for promotions, shoots, and events at any time -- more is better, but we need to have a minimum. Based on current experiences, the 15-20 number should provide that.

The idea is to create a team of Zombies who have discovered the wonders of pizza, and are on the search for pizza good enough to give up brains. Our target market are advertisers who want to get on board with the concept that their pizza is "Pizza good enough to give up eating brains."

Yes, it's a 'burgh thing, and we hope that our survey of the demographics between zombie lovers and pizza eating, and the whole concept will prove viable!

The main promotion is distributing collectible Zombie Pizza Girl cards around town, and to the advertising pizza shops, in a coordinated effort to get people to go out, buy pizza, check the website, join a fan club, promote their favorite pizza, and Save Pittsburgh!

There will also be a need for girls to go around town, passing out fliers, visiting pizza shops, "being seen" and passing out prizes, special events promotions, and more. Most of that is paid work -- but we also need people willing to put the time in to promote the concept to *get* the paid work! Those people will get 1st shot at any and all paid opportunities. Remember, the money comes from the advertisers, who get their money from the customers -- that these promotions GENERATE!

We have planned tie ins with our other characters - The Villainous Vamps and Vixens, the Killer Ninja Bimbos, the BimBots, and others. We have more comics planned, as well as scripted photo shoots, and potentially some short films.

The first promos are uploaded to my gallery:

There will be more information on [link] and there will be a private area for accepted girls to communicate, schedule, and interact with each other - and us - on-line and out of public view. We are not "rushing" into this, but we are moving fairly fast.

We could use 2-3 girls in the next week!

If interested, drop me a note. If you know someone who might be interested, send them our way!

NOTE: This is a non-nude/fetish project, and we are looking for people with more of an animated cos-play attitude than a goth/fetish one.

Shoot a Zombie Workshop -- Pittsburgh 10/28

Okay, so who wants to shoot a Zombie and get some really awesome pictures?

The Wednesday Workshop series of the Pittsburgh Model & Photographer Meetup Group ([link] ) is holding the first in an on-going (and hopefully weekly) series of AFFORDABLE photography workshops on Wednesday, October 28th in Squirrel Hill. 6-9 pm

The workshop series is designed to create a wide range of photographic opportunities to enrich your portfolio and bag of skills by spreading the costs over a small group, and making use of resources around town that are already available but largely unused.

You need to be in the Pittsburgh area, and on the Meetup.com/models mailing list to be notified of these events and be able to RSVP.

This theme: Zombies!
(Future themes announced via the meetup mailing list and calendar)

We provide the space, the equipment and the make-up. This is a _WORKSHOP_ so we'll be providing instruction, guidence, direction, makeup and set creation/preparation so all you have to do is show up and concentrate on composing your images and getting experience with models, model direction, lighting, lighting equipment, and more.

Don't be shy! No experience necessary. These workshops are how you gain experience and confidence working with, and photographing models, while adding a range of great images to your portfolio.

BONUS: Zombie makeup is expensive, time consuming, and messy. Clean up is a chore. We are waiving the usual $25 special F/x makeup fee on this premiere workshop, to kick off the series.

Photographers: Cost $100. Each of the workshops is limited to four (4) photographers only. This allows the best ratio between costs and shooting time, and limits the number of "similar" images. RSVP through the Meetup.com system. MC/Visa/Discover accepted at the studio.

Models: Check out the Wednesday Workshops Casting Call for opportunities.

For more information on the zombies and how to become a zombie model, you can contact the other organizer and choreographer:

=================================================
This is the Wednesday Workshop Model Casting that was posted.
==================================================================

We have a new Wednesday Workshop series starting on October 28th with a range of themes, topics, costuming, and props.

We will need 2-3 models on Wednesdays on a regular basis. Nudity may not be required at any individual workshop, but models who are comfortable with at least partial (topless) nudity will be given first preferences for flexibility.

We are aiming these to be "real" workshops, where the participants learn something, and not just get turned loose to click away. That means *both* models and photographers will get direction and come away with more than a few images.

The first workshop is a "Shoot a Zombie" theme. We'll be posting the subsequent workshops/themes on the Pittsburgh Model & Photographer Meetup Site -- [link]

Workshop runs from 6pm - 9pm, but you should allow some time before/after to cover eventualities. Also, if you want to shoot with me or the other organizer to guarantee images for your use, please allow additional time after the workshop ends. We offer this, because the photographers attending will be of various skill levels, and some workshops will yield dubious results. We want to make it valuable to everyone.

These are studio shoots in a commercial building in a safe neighborhood with plenty of on-street parking available.

The topics and themes will range from simple portraiture, glamour or pin-up, to more elaborate costuming, zombie makeup, and the like.

Shoots are limited to 4 photographers. 2-3 assistants will be on hand to keep things flowing. *NO* escorts. Period. There is no room. They are welcome to drop you off and find some other place to wait.

Compensation:
$25 per model cash,
Dinner (New Dumpling House or Mineo's Pizza),
Guaranteed images for your use.

While it's not a lot of cash, it's above minimum wage for the 3 hours, and includes great food and images. *NOT* a bad deal for a Wednesday evening. Some shoots may pay a little additional, depending.

If you have Wednesdays free, keep an eye on the workshop calendar. We hope to expand this series to include other days and longer, better paying to the model, events.

I told a deviant they were unwatched because they started to watermark, and it ruined the images. It obliterated them almost completely, and what's the point in wasting time on huge watermarks.

Their responses got progressively more insulting and personal, till I finally responded in kind, and blocked them. They accused me of wanting to "rip" off their images, and then started twisting words around. They think they are so clever. Oh well.

Clever?? At *THIS* point I realized it was beyond pointless:

-- message below --

Them: More arrogance and copy-paste...because you don't like to read what you type before you tell others they don't comprehend it:

Me quoted: "What's the point of UPLOADING if you cover the whole image with a watermark?
Me quoted : Unwatched."

Them: That is exactly my point. I don't want them uploaded without asking me first. Them: Common courtesy. Learn some respect.

-- message (and conversation) ends --

How can you argue intelligently (or with any purpose) with someone who thinks like that? Their later posts were even more out in lala land.

DA removed the watermark feature from the portfolio site, as I noted in my last journal, because they said it was unprofessional, and other things. They also are (and have) fought a war of ignorance on the concepts of linking to images via twitter, facebook, etc.

People *REALLY* Need to understand what they are doing before they start to play.

If you "Post" "submit" "add" or "upload" an image to a site, you are UPLOADING!!

And, anyone -- any time -- an image is _VIEWED_ or looked at, it's *DOWNLOADED*

And, if you don't even understand that simple concept, anything else is far beyond your comprehension.

Yeah, I'm annoyed. Between the haters that lash out and go after the models, and just post personal attacks because it makes them feel good, and the stupidity of the people like this, I'm in a real bad funk.

And I'm not alone. Galleries disappear as I try to look at them.

Today, a person looking at one of my new images said they just took down their gallery for the "haters" reason above. I hope it makes the people who cause this feel good about themselves -- because KARMA is a real *bitch* and she's gotta be going into heat.

It's a form of censorship. When "free speech" is used to hurt others, and to silence them, it's censorship and abusive. It should not be tolerated. People need to be held accountable for their words and actions.

Scott

BTW: One of the *BEST* ways to PROTECT your images on DA is to ALLOW DOWNLOADS!! Why? It does *NOTHING* a right-click or "view image" (in firefox) doesn't do, *AND* *IMPORTANTLY* It gives your file a nice name with your UserID attached, so people can see where it came from, instead of a cryptic hash of letters and numbers. So, allowing downloads HELPS you, doesn't *HURT* you. But, you have to understand what "downloads" means, and how the internet and websites work, to really know *EVERYTHING* is downloaded all the time!! <sigh>

I have been looking over the portfolio site, and in the "news" or FAQ area, DA posts the following:

"Additionally if you feel that it is important to add a watermark to your images, we recommend using a semi transparent watermark located in a corner of the image so as not to obstruct your main subject. Many professionals have told us that watermarks are usually undesirable in Portfolios so use them conservatively."

Hmmmmmm...... so *WHY* do they provide the very tool to the "regular" site they have realized is *NOT* "professional" or "desirable" in a portfolio for their "portfolio" site?

Watermarks are *NOT* professional, and do major damage to your credibility, especially if you accept such watermarked images as "trade" or "payment" for your time.

'nuff said for now.

Scott
