Journal Entry Begins Below:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everyone seems to have an entry about the "rules" for use of their images, or getting prints, or what not.

As far as the "rules" go, I stick with the Copyright Law, so I don't need to post all sorts of other rules. The images here are not for use, except personal, without permission. They are of models - eg: PEOPLE -- so any use/misuse/abuse carries two levels of injuries -- one for violating copyrght, and one for damaging the model's likeness/image. 'nuff said.

As far as prints, well, anyone who looked at the "share" that DA takes, vs what even the highest-priced galleries in NYC or LA takes, would balk at ever checking the "Print" box. So, I'm not going to make prints available through DA -- PERIOD. But, most images are uploaded at 600x400 (more or less) and that means at 100dpi you can get a 4x6 print from your own printer, to pin to your wall, stick in your locker, pretend it's your girlfriend, whatever. What constitutes fair/personal use, vs unfair or commercial use? I guess making 3 copies of any of the images for any reason would start to cross that line. Refer to the Copyright Law for more details about artist/photographer/etc rights.

We'd like YOU to ENJOY our art and images, which is why we upload them. But, there are rules - laws - that protect them, and both limit what can be done with them, and allow certain things to be done with them. We keep the "Download" box checked, so the images are saved with "nice" names so you can remember where you got the image, and who made it. We expect people to save our images to their harddrives for PERSONAL use and enjoyment, making their own art collections, whatever. But, *NOT* altering, and uploading them anywhere else, in violation of the Copyright Law.

Remember, uploading an image of a PERSON to a porno site, or altering it in such a way that it sheds negative light or damages a person's reputation violates OTHER laws, not just the Copyright Law. So, it's not just "stealing" an image, it's damaging the model's reputation as well. Additional damages. So just don't do it. You might think it's cool... but it's not.

As for "Vision" ... if a photographer or artist has to state their vision, then their work is not doing it's job. All I say is "I like contrasts." That should be enough. And, I like making pretty pictures people like looking at.

:iconcandy-kitten: has been like a breath of fresh air for me, and has sparked something I haven't felt in a long time. She is coming into her own as a fetish model (a *NICE* fetish model, eg: no "porn", spreads, or nasty), and the images are showing it. Of course, most of them won't be uploaded -anywhere- but enough of them will trickle out over time. If you need a good model, check her out.
