Journal Entry Begins Below:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a big difference between TOS (Terms of Service) and Censorship.

TOS outlines what is GENERALLY allowed within an on-line community (eg: Disney vs DA vs Coochmunching.com)

Censorship silences the voices of some, unfairly, for personal or random reasons OUTSIDE the TOS.

While I'm against CENSORSHIP, everyone agreed to the TOS.

So, when "artists" I watch post things that are pushing, or are flagrantly against the TOS, what do I do?

If people do not support the TOS, then *CENSORSHIP* starts to take hold. If people do not self-monitor what is appropriate and not for each venue (eg: DA), then the CENSORS move in. Their actions are RANDOM and a lot of people and *GOOD* *ART* gets caught in the cross fire.

Lately, several "artists" have posted images with the intention of getting banned. This is *bad* for everyone, since it activates the censors.

I was very, very disappointed today when someone I watch seems to be pushing the TOS - intentionally - for some reason. The images were sexual in nature, erect penis, pseudo masturbation, and border-line art in a SOHO or LA/SF gallery -- but not art here.

These sort of actions *FORCE* the censors to take a look at your work, and the work of others, and lots of other deviations will get caught in the cross fire.

If you post something you *THINK* will get banned, don't post!
There are enough artists who post works *WORRIED* they will get deleted/banned *BECAUSE* of postings like those!

TOS is *NOT* CENSORSHIP.

PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE THE TWO AND MAKE THINGS WORSE FOR EVERYONE!
