Journal Entry Begins Below:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a lot of confusion on the Internet, on DA and in people's minds in general about what is "Fetish" vs what is simply kink, porn, alt-porn, and "alt" imagery.  Just because it is nude with props, bondage, or alt-settings or clothing, doesn't make it _FETISH_.

Even groups (and individual photographers and artists) have often lost sight of this, and mixed their alt/alt-porn imagery with the "Fetish" imagery, and have blurred the lines even more.

There are some large groups that claim to abhor porn, and only show "fetish art" but they too have often lost focus.

Then, within Fetish, there are categories and levels, with "Fine" fetish, (eg: fine art fetish imagery) being the goal for most, and the more basic, feed-the-masses borderline porn (or simply re-hashed standard ideas with different props and models) which makes up the bulk of what is out there.

The Internet has taken "Fetish" and on most sites, search engines, and people's minds turned it into nothing but alt-porn.

Even DA has no breakdown for a lot of images that DO NOT BELONG in "Fetish" but have really no other place to go.  Just because the image is barefoot -- doesn't make it fetish, doesn't make it a nude, doesn't make it a close-up or macro, doesn't really make it "body parts" so where does it go?  Usually "fetish" unless something like the eyes or the emotions take a large part and it can go into something like "Emotive".

So, what's the point?

Rather than beating a dead horse, and trying to change people I've been thinking about ways to get the message/point across, and to provide a reference body of work for people to look at, and maybe to judge.

There are a lot of talented artists here, and while not every image they shoot will be "fetish", or "fine fetish" some will.  It's those images, the ones that stand out, that are important to defining -- or helping to define -- in people's minds what is and is not fetish.

I've set up a number of groups centered about fetish, fetishes, and some things I've been interested in for a long time.

There are many, many groups for nudes, nude fetish, piercings, tattoos, etc, and that does not have to be rehashed.

So, I looked at my interests, and what I felt was missing in a lot of the groups (and discussions) and set up a bunch of groups, and some new ID's to hold images that are targeted towards a theme -- that theme is _MOSTLY_ fetish base.

1) #FineFetish -- For fine-art images that depict FETISH themes.

2) #TrueFetish -- as part of the Food Fetish (nudes/food) I've been shooting for years, this group will be for images that may not fit "fine" but do depict true fetishes, and true fetish, without the other baggage.

3) #FoodFetish -- Food is basically eroticism.  No need to explain.  Many movies have had scenes, or even been based around this.  So as a broader gallery of "NudeFood", FoodFetish will explore the concepts of food, fetishism, and eroticism.

4) #NudeFood -- for themes involving nudes and food, obviously.  But "nude" is being broadly interpreted, while "food" is being somewhat more strictly interpreted.

5) #SnowNudes -- nudes in the snow, ice, and cold weather.  The "fetish" object here is the "snow", so simple cold-weather nudes are not applicable.

By design these will be low volume groups.   I have an 80+ month membership from having purchased some memberships this holiday season, so these groups will be around for awhile, even if they go slow.

If you have images -- specific images -- you'd like to contribute, please do.

I will try to critique each and every image that is submitted to these groups, and start a discussion on the concepts of fetish.

The rules are simple -- the images must fit the criteria for the group, may not have intrusive watermarks, and by nature be "art" not "porn" at first glance.  Beyond that, anything goes.
