I set up a new group to help get the idea of NO WATERMARKS across.



I'm getting sick of the groups where the images are coming across watermarked to the point of being blocked.  I would never have watched those people, so I'm getting tired of seeing them in groups I'm a part of.  Many of the groups are being hurt by it, since more and more images are watermarked, and just unviewable.  

This group is for people who feel the same way!

Artists who are members are artists who DO NOT WATERMARK their images in an obtrusive way.  This will require a review of your gallery upon application, and a decision will be made.   

Obtrusive can be a lot of things, but basically the watermark should NOT take away from the image, it should not impinge on the image space, nor should it compete for attention with the image.

1) No DA watermarks
2) No text except along the border
3) Text should in general be along the BOTTOM of the image, horizontal, not vertical.
4) Text should be placed according to the specific image, not to some template

While this is somewhat subjective, it's fairly obvious when watermarks start to compete with the image, and if watermarks are applied by template to the same spot in each image, or whether they are adjusted to fit the specific image with the least intrusion.

Images may be rejected if the watermark/text -- even if along an edge -- touches the main subject such as cuts off a toe or finger.  While this would not prevent the artist from being a member, in general, it would disqualify that specific image.

Remember, this group is for the people WATCHING so every effort will be made to give them what they are here to watch -- ART -- not watermarks.

Right now, (even though the problem is just as big, if not bigger, in other categories), the group is limited to PHOTOGRAPHIC works, but if the idea seems to catch on, we can expand it to include other categories, and get some help to manage those categories.   


The group was just approved, so I need to set it up, and get some things added, but if interested, you can always watch it, and see what's up.
